We have created a directory of some of the fundraising sources that can help your organization access funding for upcoming outdoor recreation initiatives, accessibility programs, trail maintenance, supply purchases, or professional development of your volunteer crew.

Current and upcoming grant opportunities

Outdoor Recreation Fund of BC supports non-profit organizations, Indigenous communities, and local governments undertaking projects that enhance and promote outdoor recreation across British Columbia. Eligible activities include trail building and maintenance, recreation infrastructure improvements, stewardship initiatives, and community engagement efforts that foster responsible recreation. Applications close on January 20.

ORV Trail Fund supports the planning, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of off-road vehicle (ORV) trails and recreation infrastructure across British Columbia. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, Indigenous communities, and local governments. Funding priorities include trail development and maintenance, signage and safety improvements, and environmental mitigation measures. Applications are received until February 17, 2026.

Real Estate Foundation of BC funds projects that advance sustainability, equity, and social justice in relation to land use in BC. They prioritize grants to Indigenous-led organizations. The 2026 intake opens on January 6, 2026 and ends on Febuary 5.

Trans Canada Trail Funding Program supports projects that enhance, maintain, and promote sections of the Trans Canada Trail. Eligible applicants include trail groups, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and other not-for-profit organizations involved in trail development and management. Funding priorities include accessibility improvements, signage, infrastructure repair, and environmental stewardship. Applications: Accepted through open calls.

BC Conservation & Biodiversity Awards provide $10,000–$50,000 to BC-based registered charities for high-impact projects in land and ocean conservation, clean air and water, climate solutions, and biodiversity research. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until December 31, with recipients announced on March 1.

TD Friends of the Environment Foundation provides grants to Canadian charities, educational institutions, municipalities, and Indigenous groups for environmental projects with a focus on environmental education, green spaces, and community-based sustainability initiatives. Projects that promote environmental stewardship and community engagement are prioritized. Deadline to apply: January 15, 2026.
